This week began with the 5th annual European Data Protection Days that serves to bring privacy specialists, government officials and thought leaders from all over the world together in Berlin to discuss the key issues in data privacy management. The two-day event earlier this week (May 4th and 5th) took place at the Pullman Berlin Schweizerhof hotel in Berlin. On the 5th, TRUSTe hosted a Roundtable as part of our successful Privacy Insight Series that provides a more intimate environment for top privacy leaders to discuss current privacy challenges.
At the invite-only TRUSTe roundtable event on May 5th in Berlin the topic was “Automating Data Privacy Management.” Eleanor Treharne-Jones, Director, EMEA & Global Communications at TRUSTe shared insights into how global companies are using Privacy Assessments from our recent benchmarking research and Ralph O’Brien, Senior Consultant, Compliance Solutions at TRUSTe provided a demo of our automated Assessment Manager.
Also on Tuesday at the EPDP event Josh Harris Policy Director, TRUSTe and Christina Peters, Chief Privacy Officer, IBM Corporation spoke about the EU referential agreement between APEC and the Article 29 Working Party – one year on. They offered advice for how companies can approach dual certification and next steps toward global interoperability.
Considering technology moves at a rapid pace, and privacy is a continuously evolving and complex issue, events such as these allow companies to stay on top of best practices, and discuss upcoming changes regulatory requirements.
