TRUSTe was busy hosting, co-hosting and attending events around San Francisco for Data Privacy Day. These events brought out privacy experts, as well as those interested in learning more about privacy.
Kicking-off Data Privacy Day was The Online Trust Alliance’s Data Privacy Town Hall Alliance event where TRUSTe CEO Chris Babel spoke about current privacy issues with a panel of other experts.
The second event was a roundtable that took place at the St. Regis San Francisco from 12:30-4:30 p.m. The invite-only “Data Privacy Day Town Hall & Breach Readiness Workshop,” brought in about 30 executives and privacy leaders who previewed TRUSTe’s State of Privacy 2015 report and discussed new privacy challenges.
That evening, TRUSTe sponsored the “Open Forum: Data Privacy Trends 2015” event at the Churchill Club in San Francisco. The event featured a panel of five speakers: Chris Babel, CEO of TRUSTe; Malcolm Harkins, VP/CSPO of Intel Corporation; Casey Oppenheim, Co-founder & CEO of Disconnect; Christina Peters, Chief Privacy Officer at IBM; and Justin Somaini, Chief Trust Officer at Box. Moderator Fatemeh Khatibloo, Senior Analyst and Forrester Research, guided the discussion covering big data, privacy practices designed only to deal with compliance or breach response, conflicting global privacy laws and other current privacy topics.
